|Debtor Creditor Committee|
The Debtor-Creditor committee is open to all members of the legal community who have an interest in issues related to collection of debts, enforcement of judgments and the rights of debtors. Our committee is unique in that the issues we discuss directly affect many other substantive areas of law including matrimonial law, personal injury, mechanics liens, landlord-tenant, transactional law (real estate and business transactions), and many others.
Meeting on the 1st Wednesday of every month, committee members enjoy a lively discussion of new statutes or case law that impacts debtor-creditor matters. Attendees also have an opportunity to present interesting fact patterns and obtain input from experienced attorneys about how to handle unfamiliar situations. Meetings run from noon to 1:15 pm and are held at Peggy Kinnane’s Irish Pub located at 8 N. Vail, Arlington Heights, IL. NWSBA members receive one CLE credit for their attendance.
The committee also hosts an annual seminar to discuss topics relevant to our field of law. Attendees have been fortunate to hear presentations from numerous current and retired judges, bankruptcy trustees and even elected state representatives in recent years.
